Each vessel calls for a different style and size speaker. We have a collection of speakers we typically keep on hand that provides the most versatility per box.

An expensive bare speaker is one thing, but sound has so much to do with the box that is created for it. A lot of our build time is spent in prepping the inside for vibration. You will not be disappointed.

Yes! Within the first year, if anything stops working, shoot us an email and we will pay to have it shipped back and fix it free of charge.
We are always here to help troubleshoot too. Anytime after that first year, we will fix at cost. All you have to do is ship it.
This is not something we want you to throw away.

All Rare Bird speakers are designed and built by hand in by the owner in Northern California. Each piece starts with a vintage object sourced from antique markets and second-hand shops around California before being transformed into a working stereo.

Typical turn around is 6-10 weeks depending on the complexity of the project.

Yes. Because each stereo is built from a unique vintage object, no two Rare Birds are exactly the same. The materials, design, and layout vary from piece to piece, making every speaker a functional piece of art.

Rare Bird speakers can be purchased directly through the Rare Bird website or in person at select craft markets and festivals throughout California. New pieces are released regularly as they are completed. Sign up for our email to be the first to know.

Most Rare Bird stereos range between $250 and $1200, depending on the size of the piece, the materials used, and the internal audio components.

Rare Bird is a working studio and is not currently open for public visits. However, you can see and hear speakers in person at markets and festivals where Rare Bird regularly exhibits.

Many Rare Bird models include rechargeable battery systems, allowing the speaker to play for hours without being plugged in. Some larger models may also be designed for plug-in use.

Yes. Rare Bird stereos connect via Bluetooth and work with most phones, tablets, and computers that support Bluetooth audio.
